The lid lifts off and can stand behind or above the tray as a printed header, so a shipped case turns into a point-of-sale unit with no extra parts. The tray keeps the flat continuous base of a four-corner build.
Usually yes. The lid is doing header duty once removed, so it wants large legible branding, while the tray is seen from above and close up. Printing both faces of the lid lets it work as a stockroom identifier and a header.
