The box has a locking auto-bottom base and a panel that folds up or detaches to form a display header once the box is opened. It ships and stocks as a normal carton, then becomes a point-of-sale unit without a second piece of packaging.
The base is, because it locks under load. The display panel is the part to watch - a tall header on light board will bow forward once the box is full, so we specify the header stock against its height rather than matching it to the body.
Brands selling impulse products through independent retailers, where you get counter space but no fixture. Sending one case that becomes the display removes the assembly step, which is the most common reason a standalone display never gets built.
