Two, four and six are the common counts, with internal dividers between each bottle. The dividers are the structure, not just separators - they brace the walls and stop bottles knocking, which is where breakage comes from in a carrier.
Corrugated or heavy cardboard, because the load is concentrated and the carrier is lifted by its top. Light folding carton stock will tear at the handle or bow at the base once several full bottles are in it.
Yes. On corrugated, direct printing handles solid colour and type well; where photographic quality is needed, litho-lamination bonds an offset-printed liner to the board. Both are available, and the dividers can be printed too.
